How to Keep Children Safe at Playgrounds Without Being an Overprotective Parent?

As parents, we hate to see our children hungry, sad, and most of all, hurt. That is why it is pretty much natural for us to feel protective every time potential threats come their way. Usually, such protective instinct becomes active when they spend the day out in playgrounds. With their hyperactivity and the openness of the playground, a lot of terrifying accidents can occur, right?

Being protective is cool, but being overprotective is not. And though it is a hard pill to swallow, we have to let our babies make their own mistakes and learn by themselves. As for them being in the playground, you can still do a lot of things to express your parental love for the little ones.

Play Surface Distribution, a Playground Surfacing for Playground Safety Distributor, stacked up a few examples:

  1. Dress them appropriately.

Suggested clothing fashion for playground-goers is lightweight shirts and pants. As much as possible, choose styles that cover more skin. The fabric shall protect them from splints and injuries from pointed areas. Also, the cloth shall be their primary protection against friction and insect bites.

  2. Chose age-appropriate equipment.

If your child is not yet three years old or above, letting them play in high slides and monkey bars would be too dangerous for their age. Exercise a degree of restriction. Just explain to them that they may still be too young to take care of themselves alone.

  3. Check the current weather condition.

Before bringing the little angels to the playground, have a good listen to the weather forecast. Depending on the weather condition, limit their playtime. If the temperature is too hot, outside play should not be allowed.

  4. Try to keep a distance.

Do not be too close, your children might become too conscious. Trust that they can be fine by themselves. Watch them join the group and make new friends.

  5. Bring essential things.

Every parent should at least have sunblock, a towel, and a change of clothes. After all, the little rascals will be soaked in sweat and dirt. Before heading home, their clothes must be changed immediately to avoid any infection, especially lung-related conditions.

  6. Always bring refreshments.

Usually, kids play at playgrounds until they feel drained. Since their heart and brain will be tired due to the excessive pumping of blood, a quick refill of water and other electrolyte-enriched drinks will aid in replenishing their burnout energy. And another thing, keep the drinks cold. Most children prefer it that way.

  7. Build a safer ground.

Aside from checking the swings and slides for rusts and sharp edges, it is coequally important to check on the actual ground itself. If it is stony and full of other debris, the same can cause a lot of risks for the rascals.

Luckily, Play Surface Distribution has got a lasting solution! With the help of our Soft Surfacing materials, we can create floor surface coatings that will keep kids from sustaining scratches, fracture, bruises, and other related injuries.
